Semi-Precious - Carnelian Round Beads
Carnelian is a form of quartz that is often heated to enhance its reddish brown colour. The red colouring of Carnelian is brought about by the presence of hematite (iron oxide) impurities that are mixed with the quartz. The name Carnelian is thought to be derived from the Latin word ‘Carnis’ which means flesh.
