Green moss agate is a form of chalcedony which is formed from silicon dioxide that has been penetrated by iron to form the green streaks. The gemstone comes in multi shades of green ranging from pale green to dark green, blue-green and patches of brown or milky white. The gemstone looks much like moss from a distance with its profusion of green tendrils.
